Can Sean rise to the occasion?
Coronation Street round-up, week beginning Sunday 1 July, ITV1

Kirk is devastated when Fiz tells him she’s seeing someone else

Sean can’t stop thinking about fathering Violet a baby and she doesn’t think it’s such a bad idea either. The trouble is: how do they get one? Sean orders a fertility kit to find the best time to impregnate his friend, housemate and work colleague, but Violet’s too impatient and thinks they should just get on with it and sleep together. She plies Sean with wine and music to get him in the mood, but he gets the giggles out of embarrassment and Violet gets the hump.

The friends give it another bash during their lunch hour and Eileen is confused when she nearly catches them at it. Violet tries to catch him again on a five minute break – well, they’re trying to make a baby not love – but Sean’s too tired. He musters the energy and conviction from somewhere, though, as Sean ends up buying Violet a pregnancy kit.

Eileen has Pat over for dinner, but when she messes it up they end up sharing a kebab at Jerry’s. Poor Jerry is forced to watch on as the couple head towards Eileen’s to make a night of it. In the morning, she embarrassingly has to introduce Pat to Sean and Violet, and Pat gets caught leaving by Lloyd, sparking plenty of questions for Eileen at work.

Everyone’s happy for Eileen having some fun, for once, but Jamie recognises Pat and thinks he’s married. Steve and Lloyd decide to stake out his house to find out the truth and they see him arrive home with his Mrs in arm. The boys toss a coin to see who’s going to tell Eileen and Steve loses. He plucks up the courage to tell her only to find out that she already knows. Being the other woman is no fun so she calls it off with Pat, but she finds it hard to stick to her laurels when they share one last drink for the road.

Hayley’s finding it tough at the top of Underworld. The factory girls continue to slack while Sean and Kelly argue and storm out followed by Sally. With the factory in chaos and Hayley losing the plot, Carla decides it’s time to take charge and she cracks her whip. She confiscates Fiz’s mobile, gives Janice a final warning and tells Sally she can forget about becoming her PA. The only one to benefit from Carla’s sweeping changes is Hayley, who gets a well deserved promotion.

Molly and Tyrone find a house together and Jack and Vera make them feel guilty about leaving them. More specifically, Jack’s mortified at the thought of being home alone with Vera for all eternity. Whether he does it on purpose or not, Jack puts his back out forcing Molly and Tyrone to delay their move.

Yana thinks the chip shop has had it thanks to Jerry’s kebabs, but Cilla takes up the challenge to save it. They watch on as a pest control van pulls up outside Jerry’s and Cilla begins to point out Jerry’s problems. Jodie realises Cilla has called them and warns her not to mess with her, but that just raises the bar for Cilla.

Bradley and Max have a few surprises for Stacey
EastEnders round-up, week beginning Monday 2 July, BBC One

Max and Bradley leave Stacey in a real dilemma

The Vic reopens and like all landladies in the UK, Peggy worries about bringing in the punters after the introduction of the smoking ban. She lays on free food and drink and introduces a ‘happy hour’, but her regulars seem to be taking their custom elsewhere and all fingers point towards Pat. Peggy starts to wonder whether Pat is turning tricks again and heads off to spy. Her fears are confirmed when she sees Patrick paying to enter the bookies and other men filing out. The police are called to bust up Pat’s operation and they are led to believe that Pat is running an innocent book club.

Pat sees the contents of Ian’s shopping bags and guesses that they’re about to get married. Jane strikes up a friendship with Heather over a slice of cake and Ian upsets his wife-to-be by commenting on Heather’s size and warning Jane not to hang out with her too much or she might start looking like her. His comments hit a nerve and Jane flips out and calls off the wedding.

Pat notices the wedding papers and spots Jane’s birth certificate, which says her name is Lesley. Pat and Ian are confused and Jane/Lesley is horrified that her secret is out. With Pat’s encouragement, Ian reaches out to Jane and she reveals that she was bullied at school for being fat and being called Lesley, so she changed her name to Jane and lost weight. Ian gets down on one knee and the couple rush off to tie the knot, and about time too.

Dawn isn’t taking motherhood seriously and prefers to stay out all night partying instead of looking after her baby. She surprises everyone when she takes newborn Summer into the pub. While she’s busy enjoying herself, Garry has to tell her that the baby needs changing and Dawn’s furious at him. However, she later admits to him that she’s a terrible mother and when she looks at Summer all she can see is Rob. Garry cheers her up by saying that she’ll be a great mum and that Summer looks like her anyway.

Bradley’s delighted about his promotion, but hasn’t dared tell Stacey it means moving to Paris. In order to soften the blow, he suggests a weekend in Paris. All is going to plan until Dot puts her foot in it. With Stacey wanting to be with him but not wanting to move to Paris, he heads off to hand in his notice at work. Dot steps in and tells Stacey that he’s giving everything up for her and Stacey manages to stop him just in time. Bradley’s adamant that he’s going nowhere without her.

Bradley tries everything to bring her round to the idea and finally decides that a ring on her finger might do the trick. After a disastrous dinner date and Bradley nearly keeling over when his nut allergy is triggered, he finally manages to pop the question. She looks at the ring and is about to reply when she spots Max drawing the curtains at his house.

Stacey’s in turmoil when Max confesses his love for her and Bradley tells her that he’s turned down the Paris job for her. Stacey has to give Bradley an answer and has to decide just what she’s going to do about Max. Will it be father or son?

Who killed Tom King? (part II, month 7)
Emmerdale round-up, week beginning Sunday 1 July, ITV1

Barraclough tells Carl she won’t rest until Tom’s killer is found

If you thought you’d seen the last of the epic saga of who killed Tom King, you’re sadly mistaken.
At Paddy’s birthday party, Chas snogs Eli to try and wind Carl up, but she fails to push his buttons. She gets right to the point by asking him why he dumped her and whether they can give their relationship one last shot. To tempt him, she promises they’ll find a way to get Rosemary sent down for Tom’s murder, but he dashes her hopes by announcing his dying love for her.

The kiss obviously got to Carl, despite what he might say as Eli and Carl awake after spending a night in the cells over an assault charge. Just before Carl is about to leave, Barraclough tells him she won’t rest until Tom’s killer is found. She pushes him on Matthew’s guilt and he begins to buckle under the pressure. Will he confess to Tom’s murder to save his brother?

Kelly begins making plans for her modelling job and Jimmy can’t help worrying about what Kelly will get up to on her travels surrounded by millionaire racing drivers. Kelly assures Jimmy she will marry him when she returns, but Jimmy will believe that when he sees it. Wise man.

Marlon and Donna say goodbye to the decrepit old caravan and prepare to welcome the kids into their new home, which was looking nice until Zak and Shadrach plied them with piles of junk to help them set up home.

Debbie’s busy renovating Tug Ghyll and splashes out on a new flatscreen TV, which Eli accidentally sends smashing to the floor. Debbie’s in for another shock when she arrives home to find her newly decorated pad ransacked in an insurance scam concocted by Eli to get her the money for a new TV. At first she punches him in the face, then she’s impressed by his plan and they end up kissing. Then she breaks his heart by calling him a no-good loser.

After such an emotional rollercoaster of emotions from Debbie, Eli turns to drink. He turns up half-cut at Donna and Marlon’s as they’re throwing a welcome home party for the kids. Eli sends shivers down Marlon’s back when he tells him that he’ll share a story with the kids about Marlon and the great bookie raid.

Determined to get over Len’s death, Pearl donates some of his old clothes to the church, but Pearl is horrified when Len’s stuff finds its way onto Shadrach’s grubby back. Shadrach’s living in fear of Pearl’s wrath, as is Pollard. Believing that David and he will be lynched at any time over the eviction business, Pollard comes up with a cheeky plan to come out of the whole situation as heroes.

Perdy gathers the courage to venture out of the house on a shopping trip, even though Paul and Grayson think she should remain locked up. Her spirits are lifted momentarily when she receives a letter back from a surrogacy agency, but she’s annoyed by Grayson’s lack of enthusiasm. Perdy suggests they go on a mini-break to think the idea through. However, Rosemary sabotages their trip by throwing some babygrows into the works and provoking Perdy into causing an embarrassing scene in The Woolpack.

Len may rest in peace but will his women?
Emmerdale round-up, week beginning Sunday 27 May, ITV1

Len’s dead and almost buried, yet Pearl and Edna are still fighting over their beloved man. Pearl arranges the funeral and excludes Edna from the proceedings. It all gets too much for Pearl and she drowns her sorrows and makes a fool out of herself in front of Lady Tara and Marc Reynolds.

Edna decides to stay away from the funeral to keep the peace, but as the congregation gathers she feels she must pay her respects to the man she loved. Pearl makes an emotional speech and sees red when she finds Edna pining at his graveside. Pearl’s in for another shock when she receives an eviction notice from Pollard. Edna holds out an olive branch and invites her to stay with her, but she stubbornly refuses.

Daz is thrilled when Billy returns to the village and starts his new job at the garage. Grateful for his son’s efforts, Billy throws his arms around him. Billy also receives a warm welcome back from Val, who is quick to offer him a roof over his head, leaving Jack furious.

Sharon’s thrilled to receive an antique locket as a gift from Rodney, but Val’s quick to claim it’s a fake. With Rodney’s role in the wedding gathering momentum, Val starts causing trouble for Sharon by ignoring her daughter’s wishes by organising a tacky hen night, complete with rabbit ears, instead of a WAGs evening at a spa.

Rodney rounds up a group for the stag’s poker game at Gray’s cottage, but Rodney’s unnerved when Dan wonders when female company will arrive to bid farewell to his bachelorhood. After Dan reveals his womanising stories, Rodney voices his concerns to Sharon and is stunned when she confirms that she’s willing to sacrifice fidelity for a life of luxury.

On the morning of the wedding, Sharon unveils her Hollywood-style dress, complete with fairy wings. Val overhears Dan discussing a transfer on the phone and she asks Jasmine to investigate. She finds out that Dan is in fact leaving his current club, but the fairytale wedding is almost in full swing. As the congregation are asked to voice any objections, Val stands up and tells a few home truths about Dan. Sharon’s gutted when her dream wedding is ruined, especially when the news only makes page five in the papers.

Scarlett renews her attempts to help Daz with his education and win his heart, but he hardly notices her. Kelly persuades her to have a Kelly-style makeover and plasters on a layer of thick makeup and squeezes her into one of her skimpy dresses, which could put Daz off Scarlett for life.

David and Jasmine flirt in the café, but when Debbie butts in and insults her career prospects, Jasmine scarpers, leaving the way paved for Debbie. Lisa reminds her of David’s treatment of Del, but Debbie is set on getting her man. Is David about to put another Dingle notch in his bedpost?
